22 questions, answered

Everything operators ask. Straight answers.

Pricing and fees, payouts, the day-to-day of running departures, what guests experience, and how switching works — the whole picture in one place.

01Pricing & fees

What it costs, and what it never costs.

01How much does Theybook cost?

Theybook is a flat $99/month (or $83/month billed annually) with every feature included — unlimited bookings, unlimited experiences, the full design studio, automated emails, waivers, gift cards, CRM and team accounts. There is no commission, no per-booking fee, and no setup fee. The only other cost is Stripe's standard card-processing rate, which is paid to your own Stripe account like any other payment processor.

02Do you really take 0% commission?

Yes — zero, permanently. Commission platforms typically take around 6% of every order, which on $300,000 of annual bookings is roughly $18,000 a year. Theybook's flat fee means a record month costs exactly the same as a quiet one, so every additional booking you win is pure margin.

03Are there setup fees, per-seat fees, or feature tiers?

No, no, and no. One plan includes everything — unlimited bookings, unlimited experiences, every feature. Annual billing exists purely as a discount (about 16% off), never as a lock-in.

04What does Stripe charge?

Stripe's standard card-processing rate (typically 2.9% + 30¢ in the US) applies to card payments, paid to Stripe like any processor. That's true on every booking platform — the difference is theybook adds 0% on top.

02Payments & payouts

Your money goes straight to you.

01Who processes the payments?

Your own Stripe account. Guests pay by card at checkout and the money settles directly to your bank on Stripe's normal payout schedule. Theybook never holds, routes or touches your funds — if you ever leave, your payment history and customer relationship with Stripe remain entirely yours.

02How fast do I get paid?

On Stripe's standard payout schedule for your country — typically two business days rolling in the US, configurable in your own Stripe dashboard. theybook never sits in the middle of the flow.

03Can I issue refunds?

Yes — refunds run through your own Stripe account under your control, and cancelling a booking in theybook frees the seats and notifies your waitlist automatically.

04Which currencies are supported?

Each operator sets their currency (USD, CAD, EUR, GBP and more), and guests pay in that currency through your Stripe account.

03Running the day

Manifests, capacity, and the dock at 6 AM.

01Does it prevent overbooking?

Yes, at two levels. A transactional seat lock means two guests can never claim the last seat of a departure, and resource locks prevent the same boat, room, vehicle or guide from being double-booked across overlapping experiences.

02Can I take phone and walk-up bookings?

Yes — staff add manual bookings in seconds, and they land in the same manifest, capacity counts, CRM and reporting as online reservations. Nothing lives in a side spreadsheet.

03What happens when I cancel a departure for weather?

Cancel or reschedule in one tap: guests are emailed automatically, seats are freed, and the waitlist is offered any open spots. Reschedules are seat-safe, so you can't accidentally oversell the new departure.

04Can I print a manifest?

Yes — every departure has a print-ready roster with party sizes, phone numbers and intake answers, formatted for a clipboard on the dock.

05Can my staff use it too?

Yes — invite teammates with owner or staff roles. Staff can run the day (bookings, manifest, check-in, customers) while owner-only controls protect billing, team management and your booking-page design.

04Guests & bookings

What the booking experience is like.

01Can guests book from their phones?

Most do. The checkout is mobile-first and loads fast — date, party size, add-ons, payment, waiver — built to finish in under a minute on a phone.

02What guest emails are automated?

Booking confirmations with calendar invites, pre-trip reminders with the meeting point and time, post-trip review requests, waitlist notifications when a seat frees up, and new-booking alerts to your own inbox. Each one is branded with your colors and sent automatically at the right moment.

03Can guests reschedule or cancel themselves?

Yes — every confirmation email links to a self-serve page where guests can reschedule to another open departure or cancel under your policy, which frees the seat and triggers the waitlist.

04Do guests get charged booking fees?

Never by theybook. Many commission platforms surface their cut to your guest as a checkout line item — with theybook there's simply nothing to pass on, which makes your real price lower than competitors'.

05Switching & setup

Getting live without losing a booking.

01Do I need technical skills to set it up?

No. Setup is self-serve and most operators are bookable the same day: add experiences, set availability, pick a design preset and connect Stripe. The design studio uses visual controls with a live preview, and embedding on an existing site is a single copy-paste.

02Can I use my own website and domain?

Both. You can run your Theybook booking page on your own domain as a complete storefront, or keep your current website and embed the booking widget so guests reserve without leaving your pages. Availability, pricing and customer data stay in sync either way.

03How do I switch from FareHarbor, Peek or another platform?

Build your theybook account in parallel — experiences, schedules, design, Stripe — test a real booking, then point your website's buttons at the new page. Most operators finish in an afternoon with zero downtime.

04What happens to my data if I cancel?

It's yours. Bookings and customers export to CSV at any time — names, emails, booking history, lifetime value. There's no lock-in, no contract, and no hostage data: you can cancel month-to-month and take everything with you.

05Is there a contract or minimum term?

No. Month-to-month, cancel anytime, keep your data. Annual billing is available purely as a discount (about 16% off), never as a lock-in.
